Last year, Australian broadcaster Nine launched a new series of documentaries that followed its new digital production team as they set about creating stories for the new year.
Now the company is making the same approach to its own stories.
Hacker News spoke to the team behind the new series, including co-producer and co-founder of Nine Mark Johnson and senior story editor John Dutton.
“The story is the story is how to tell stories,” Johnson said.
When the story begins, there is a narrative that goes like this: there are a bunch of people in a small community and it’s about the people and the history.
Then, you start to look at what the story ends up being, and that’s the story of how we’re all here.
This story is about the stories of how Australians live, what they believe, how they think, how we feel.
It’s about a story that we can tell on our own terms, on our terms of who we are, and we’re a different nation.
The stories will be about the everyday people in Australia, and how they interact with each other, with their neighbours, with the rest of the world.
The new series will be called ‘The Land of Stories’.
The title is a play on the word ‘land’, referring to the place where the story starts and the land that will be the backdrop for it.
You can find more of the stories on Nine’s website, and can also follow them on Twitter. [via ABC]
