Microsoft has secured a $100 million loan from the Bank of New York Mellon for its $1.9 billion project to expand into the Midwestern land group.
Microsoft plans to add 50,000 square feet of retail space to the existing headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, and the first 50,00 square feet will be a food court, according to Microsoft.
Microsoft plans to hire 25,000 workers in the Bellevue and Chicago area, and a new $3.9 million Microsoft Innovation Center will open in Chicago in 2019, Microsoft said.
Microsoft also announced plans to begin construction on a new headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and to build a new Microsoft Store in the former home of the Sears.
The company also announced it would begin construction of an additional $1 billion headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
