Koloa, Florida (CBSMiami) — It will be the first flight to land in Koloa in more than a decade.
The landing site, located in Lake County, Fla., is a short drive from the Miami International Airport and is scheduled to be completed in 2019.
The lander will have a landing zone of about 15 acres and will be operated by the Air Force Research Laboratory.
It will carry instruments, a robotic arm and a small payload, which will provide a detailed picture of the terrain and other features in the area.
It is expected to be operated for about a year and a half, according to Air Force officials.
