Posted March 05, 2018 07:38:07The crash landing of the $50 million dollar Costa Mesa Costa Mesa Landing was not what the crew expected when they were trying to land it on a runway on a hot summer day on July 1, 2019.
“We did not expect to be in trouble when we landed,” said Costa Mesa landing captain Eric T. Pritchard, who was also the captain of the landing craft, according to the California Department of Transportation.
“It took us about an hour to get to the airport, and then about an extra 30 minutes to get out of the airport and get back to our aircraft.
We had no indication of what happened, but I was pretty sure it was not a good landing.”
Trey Pritcher, the captain, said the aircraft took off from the landing pad, but did not touch down.
The Costa Mesa aircraft was on the runway at the time, and the pilots were able to make it back to the landing area.
The Costa Mesa flight was not the first time a commercial jet landed safely at a landing pad.
A plane landed safely in Hawaii earlier this month.
